iTracs Launches DCIM Open Exchange Framework
Dec 18, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
iTracs Corp., Inc., a provider of open, enterprise-class Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solutions, has announced two advancements in the evolution and growth of the DCIM industry: the DCIM Open Exchange Framework and the ourDCIM Software Developer Community.
According to the Company, these developments reflect the increasing importance of DCIM as an enabler of business value for the enterprise, and the need for an open, collaborative community that unleashes the potential of DCIM as an infrastructure management game-changer.
"DCIM is now broadly accepted as the primary method for achieving efficiency and increasing the business output and value of infrastructure ecosystems," said Steven Brasen, Managing Research Director, Enterprise Management Associates. "iTracs is taking a leadership role with the open democratization of context-rich information in its 3D visualization environment. DCIM is an interconnected environment in which data, systems, and workflows must be shared between IT, Facilities, Building Management Systems, and the Business. Integrations should be broad-based so it's not just data-to-data, but systems-to-systems both within and beyond the DCIM sphere. To be open means equal access to data, process, and workflow should be provided to all constituents in a visualized environment that makes information meaningful and actionable. iTracs is taking the industry where it needs to go."
The DCIM Open Exchange Framework is core to iTracs' vision for DCIM as an open systems management-based solution. It's the information highway that connects all outside data sources, systems, and workflows to the iTracs Converged Physical Infrastructure Management (CPIM) software suite, allowing for the seamless bi-directional exchange of information. With the DCIM Open Exchange Framework, iTracs' said its extensible systems-management environment can send or receive any data point from any other vendor or system using open interfaces and protocols. The framework streamlines the entire interchange with a standardized interface that speeds integrations, eliminates risk, and fosters rapid wins for the customer. The framework is not offered as a standard it is offered as a means to accelerate the openness within the physical layer that's been enjoyed at the logical layer for years.
"The DCIM Open Exchange Framework helps unlock the vast amount of data within the physical infrastructure and turn it into actionable, context-rich information driving a new level of business value for DCIM customers," said Elizabeth Given, President and CEO of iTracs. "This is not an API or partnering program. It's a gateway unlocking the free and open exchange of information related to the physical infrastructure, connecting iTracs with outside data sources, enterprise systems, business workflows within the customer's organization, even other DCIM vendors. Its two-way data exchange creates a true win-win the DCIM ecosystem is enriched with new streams of operational and other data, and the customer's business systems and workflows are enriched by pulling information from iTracs back into their environments."
Leveraging this framework technology, iTracs noted that it has already completed integrations with Intel, Power Assure, OSIsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Unite Technologies, BMC, Liebert, Geist, APC Schneider, CA Technologies, and others.
"The framework simplifies the entire integration process, offering a rapid early win for our joint customers," said Brad Wurtz, President and CEO of Power Assure. "What is particularly alluring is how the framework fosters the bi-lateral exchange of information. We can feed our real-time energy data and other management information into the iTracs suite, where it is visualized in iTracs' award-winning systems management platform. Or we can pull iTracs data into our system to help customers optimize their energy management strategies within the Power Assure environment."
In addition, the Company noted that the new ourDCIM Software Developer Community is designed to facilitate the free and open exchange of information about and relating to physical infrastructure; to advance the continued evolution of DCIM technology; and to drive continued enhancements in performance and business value for DCIM customers worldwide.
To foster this collaboration, iTracs said it is making its software development tools as well as data, 3D visualization, intelligence, what-if scenarios, and high-level analytics available to software developers around the world. Software developers will have access to a portfolio of web services-based capabilities in addition to a standard software development kit.
