The awards program is a project of Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business (TAB), the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (TSC-SHRM) and Best Companies Group. The rapidly-growing Consuro is headquartered in Texas and has offices in Fort Worth, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and San Angelo. According to the organization, this statewide survey and awards program was created in 2006 and was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Texas, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2013 Best Companies to Work for in Texas list is made up of 100 companies, and Consuro is a part of this year's list. To be considered for participation, Consuro fulfilled the following eligibility requirements: Have at least 15 employees working in Texas (Consuro has 25); Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity (Consuro is a for-profit business); Be a publicly or privately held business (Consuro is privately owned by co-presidents Ben Tiblets and Kevin Valadez); Have a facility in the state of Texas (Consuro is headquartered in Fort Worth, with offices in San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and San Angelo); and Must be in business a minimum of 1 year (Consuro was founded in 2008). Best Companies Group stated that companies from across Texas entered the two-part survey process to determine the top list. The first part, worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation, consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, systems, philosophies, practices, and demographics. The second part, worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation, consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores resulted in the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Texas and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. The rankings will be revealed at the Best Companies to Work for in Texas gala on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency in Austin and will be listed in the April 2013 issue of Texas Monthly, which will be delivered to subscribers and on the newsstand in late March. Texas Monthly will also produce a special publication profiling the winning companies to be released in conjunction with the event.
