Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers Improves a Range of HR Operational Efficiencies with Ultimate Software's UltiPro
WESTON, Fla. --(Business Wire)--
Ultimate
Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading cloud provider of people
management solutions, announced today that the Texas Rangers Baseball,
LLC, a 2,000-employee professional baseball team based in Arlington,
Texas, has significantly improved hiring efficiencies; streamlined
multiple HR business processes, including onboarding and time
management; and can better manage and forecast human capital expenses
with UltiPro.
Prior to using UltiPro for talent acquisition, the Texas
Rangers organized multiple job fairs to fill seasonal vacancies.
Every spring, the HR team faced numerous challenges in quickly
identifying and hiring approximately 1,200 individuals in a range of
roles, including security, parking, and customer service
representatives. For each fair, hundreds of individuals would wait in
line to submit applications, be interviewed, and complete necessary
screenings.
Because UltiPro
has streamlined the talent acquisition process for the Rangers, the
number and duration of fairs has been cut dramatically. According to
Machelle Noel, finance systems analyst at the Texas Rangers, UltiPro has
enabled the HR and payroll teams to improve their seasonal hiring,
automate manual processes, and provide better service to candidates
interested in working for the Texas Rangers.
"Now with UltiPro
Recruitment, applicants are completing forms online, and we are
reducing paper usage and improving the accuracy of hiring information.
We set up the applicant interviews through email with UltiPro's
scheduling tools and only invited those to the fair who were the most
qualified based on the screening questions completed. By cutting paper,
decreasing the number of individuals interviewed, and reducing the
amount of applicants required to complete costly pre-employment
verifications, we are achieving a range of hard- and soft-cost savings
associated with hiring as well as providing a high-quality experience
for candidates," said Noel. "Everyone raved about how much more smoothly
our Spring 2012 hiring process was by using UltiPro."
Once candidates are hired at the Texas Rangers, their information is
moved into UltiPro for payroll - without HR or payroll teams having to
go through duplicate data entry. Employees can easily log in to UltiPro
to finalize the onboarding process online, review employment documents,
and quickly and efficiently complete required forms. UltiPro
streamlines the onboarding process - helping the Texas
Rangers manage its fluctuating workforce more easily and with fewer
resources and less expenditures.
"UltiPro is especially helpful to us because every year we scale in
size, and now this transition is easier for everyone," said Noel. "We
can quickly hire and re-hire employees and then get them started on
becoming immediately productive - all without having to attend
unnecessary meetings, print booklets, or mail piles of paper."
UltiPro has also dramatically
transformed the time management process for the Texas Rangers.
Now, supervisors have the ability to manage and post schedules online,
which enables employees to view and verify their schedules and hours,
streamlining the communication process.
"Previously, managing time and attendance was much more difficult. For
example, we had to ask our employees to wait and then clock in right
before their shift because the system would start paying them upon
clocking in rather than for their actual scheduled work hours. Employees
had to line up and wait, and the organization was still paying for some
time that wasn't really spent working," said Noel. "Now with UltiPro,
employees and managers verify their hours so if they had to arrive early
or stay late, hours can be adjusted easily before the payroll is
submitted. The gray areas and unnecessary costs have been removed from
the budget."
From a planning
and budgeting perspective, Noel reports that departments are
better able to forecast and manage HR and payroll expenses. She believes
that Ultimate's focus on the HR industry has helped the company create a
solid solution to support her, the Texas Rangers' employees, and the
overall organization.
"It's so important to us that Ultimate
Software is focused solely on human resources and payroll
because all of its research and development efforts are devoted to
UltiPro, rather than divided between systems that serve multiple parts
of the business," said Noel. "Ultimate's dedication to HCM shows in its
products and services. Overall, the efficiencies and improvements we
have seen with UltiPro have just been a wow experience for our
organization."
"Professional sports organizations have unique business needs,
especially when it comes to overseeing their people-related processes.
Complexities include effectively managing a fluctuating, diverse
workforce; handling complex
multi-state taxation and payroll requirements; and streamlining
the scope of HR operations," said Greg Swick, chief sales officer at
Ultimate Software. "UltiPro provides flexible and powerful technology
with comprehensive
HCM functionality that can adapt to ever-changing business
needs. We're very pleased to add the Texas Rangers to our growing roster
of professional sports organizations that have experienced significant
business improvements with UltiPro."
