Leveraging AIS Rugged Military COTS Technology with High Availability, Reliability, Scalability, and Low-cost Platforms to Improve Federal Procurement Process Efficiency
IRVINE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
American Industrial Systems Inc. (AIS), is an International Traffic in
Arms Regulations (ITAR)
accredited supplier and manufacturer of cost-effective Commercial
Off-The-Shelf (COTS) rugged
embedded computing for government, aerospace, and defense entities.
In reference to FASA and FARA studies, AIS exerts every effort in making
the Federal procurement process more commercial-like, and to simplify
the Federal procurement process. This is with the expectation that a
simpler and more commercial-like process would increase government
access to private sector technology, as well as the growing private
sector development of technology-related services.
The reforms of the mid-1990s adopted some commercial practices in
government procurement and encouraged the purchase of commercial
products and services rather than acquisitions tailored to unique
government specifications in the belief that this approach would give
the government access to commercial solutions, reduce the cost of major
systems, improve the overall quality of contractor performance, and
shorten the time it takes to purchase goods and services that support
agency missions. Those reforms have expanded the definition of
commercial items to encompass not only goods, but virtually all types of
services. AIS pre-validated control and communications rugged displays
are available in a range of military and aerospace proven form factors
and offer a choice of configurations and ruggedization levels designed
to meet a wide range of performance and environmental requirements.
Federal Acquisition Regulation; FAR Case 2000-305, Commercially
Available Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Items:
The Civilian Agency Acquisition Council and the Defense Acquisition
Regulations Council have agreed on afinal rule amending the Federal
Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to implement Section 4203 of the
Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (41 U.S.C. 431) (the Act) with respect to the
inapplicability of certain laws to contracts and subcontracts for the
acquisition of COTS items.
To Leverage the Advances of AIS Rugged COTS Technology for Multiple
Defense Applications
The pre-designed COTS and MOTS-based rugged
embedded computers and displays provide a cost effective control
interface which is easily integrated to new and existing installations,
reducing time to market and increasing competitiveness in a market where
service, availability, reliability, and technology are significant
importance.
