Cyan's Chief Technology Officer to Speak on Networks as a Service at Carrier Ethernet World Congress
PETALUMA, CA, Sep 12, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Cyan today announced that Steve West, chief technology officer at
Cyan, will deliver a presentation, "Networks as a Service (NaaS) -
Deploying More Open and Programmable Carrier Ethernet" at the Metro
Ethernet Forum's Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Barcelona. The
presentation is part of a larger session, "Discussing Carrier
Ethernet, Software Defined Networking and OpenFlow" chaired by
Christos Kolias, research scientist at Orange, and will take place on
Sept. 18 at 4:35 p.m. CEST.
The presentation will explore the ongoing migration to logically
centralized, software-based control of multi-layer and multi-vendor
provider networks, allowing for the deployment of more open and
programmable Carrier Ethernet NaaS. Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
has garnered unprecedented attention for its ability to transform
data center networks, and it is now becoming clear that service
provider networks may have even more to gain from the SDN approach.
While provider networks are similar to data centers in many respects,
they are designed and built on a more diverse set of products,
services and technology layers. At the same time, provider networks
have always been software-driven, making the adoption of SDN a more
natural transition.
