Tweddle Group Enhances Data Communications Framework for Mobile Phone and Vehicle Head Unit
DETROIT, Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
Tweddle Group, a leader in customer relationship management (CRM), owner's and service information, and connected vehicle solutions for automotive OEMs, announces an enhanced communications framework for transmitting data between a mobile phone and a vehicle's head unit. Tweddle's Peer Communications Framework (PCF), one of the connection strategies Tweddle supports, protects in-vehicle systems by ensuring only automotive-grade services enter the vehicle environment, providing the most secure connection between the head unit and the cloud.
Tweddle's PCF, adopted by many automotive device manufacturers, is available for Android, iPhone, and Blackberry operating systems. PCF is a robust and cost-effective alternative to other connection strategies, leveraging the user's mobile phone to connect the vehicle to the cloud. The technology is designed to authenticate, process, and route service requests from the head unit to the cloud through mobile transport. This framework enables the head unit to securely access web services while minimizing driver distraction.
The newly updated communications framework increases transfer rates by up to 25 percent, attributed to several technology improvements. It uses data compression algorithms to reduce user bandwidth consumption, resulting in more efficient information reading and data exchange. It can also identify specific head units, allowing automakers to optimize implementations based on specific program requirements and constraints.
A leader in enabling safe access to cloud services in the car, Tweddle Connect(TM) is an end-to-end platform that supports embedded phone modules, Wi-Fi, PAN DUN, and PCF to connect the vehicle to the cloud. In addition to PCF, comprehensive platform solutions also include mobile phone and head unit application design and development, and optimization of web services for driver safety. In-vehicle software can be updated "over-the-air," decreasing costs for automakers and saving vehicle owners the time and effort associated with manual USB updates.
"The improvements to Tweddle's Peer Communications Framework help solve pain points for our OEM customers and other stakeholders. Simply put, our technology is consistently evolving to help automakers develop more affordable, faster, simpler connected service offerings." - Paul Sciame, General Manager.
"By advancing our solution with these new capabilities coupled with our recent announcement detailing Tweddle Connect's over-the-air capabilities, we are helping both our current and future customers be more successful." - Andy Tweddle, CEO Tweddle Group
