The systems are very difficult to maintain, and as a result we have accuracy problems with quotes and orders. Our objective is to standardize the entire quote-to-order process, and make it easy for our customers to do business with us."
After a comprehensive evaluation, CST Industries selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator. "It was clear that Configure One had invested heavily in Concept," said Abu-Hatoum. "The product was functionally very rich and flexible and that was very important as we have to satisfy the needs of our diverse product lines. We felt that Concept was built for manufactures with strong integration to ERP and other back office systems. In addition, we were also very impressed with all the people we met from Configure One."
According to Abu-Hatoum the ability to integrate with [CST Industries' CRM and CAD systems was a critical factor in the decision process. "It was essential that the solution we selected integrated with Salesforce.com and SolidWorks(R). We want to automate the production of routings and bills of material."
Abu-Hatoum expects Concept to deliver big benefits. "Improved quote and order accuracy is our number one objective. Also, we expect to reduce our quote-to-order cycle time by a third. Initially, we will use Concept internally, but we want to shift the emphasis to our reps and dealers in the field. Using Concept, they will be able to generate their own quotes. This will free up our internal staff to devote more time to customer service."
