Inphi to Demonstrate the Industry's First 100GbE CMOS PHY Solutions in a Real World Ecosystem at OFC/NFOEC 2012

OFC/NFOEC -- Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed analog semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced that it will demonstrate its 100GbE CMOS PHY solutions in its booth #1447 at OFC/NFOEC 2012, from March 6-8, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Based on Inphi's iPHY™ 100GbE CMOS solutions announced in September (see announcement here), and together with ecosystem partners Molex and Luxtera, the demonstration will showcase the industry's first 100GbE CMOS Gearbox (GB) and 100GbE CMOS Clock Data Recovery (CDR) solutions interoperating over a channel with insertion loss exceeding OIF-28G-VSR specifications through a Molex zQSFP+ interconnect system and CDRs communicating with silicon photonics technology from Luxtera. The immediate availability of mature CMOS based 100GbE PHY solutions will help networking OEM customers accelerate their time-to-market for next-generation 100GbE systems targeted for data center and enterprise networks.
Cost-effective, energy-efficient 100GbE links will soon become essential tools for data center and service provider networks, which are struggling to satisfy the global economy's relentless hunger for more bandwidth. With service providers and data centers demanding technology with low power consumption, Inphi's ecosystem demonstration with next-generation CMOS PHY solutions proves that the technology is now available to upgrade to 100GbE networks while retaining a lower carbon footprint.
As part of the ecosystem demonstration, Inphi will showcase the IN112510-LC CMOS GB and IN012525-CP CMOS CDR FOR 100GbE and OTU4 applications. The devices use groundbreaking architecture and design techniques to achieve superior jitter performance and sensitivity, while achieving higher levels of integration and lower power consumption. The devices are targeted for high-density line cards and ultra low power optical modules and feature advanced on-die metrics and analysis for link margin provided in conjunction with Inphi's iSCAN™ eye diagnostic software. Containing transmit and adaptive receive equalization, this device is designed to exceed OIF-28G-VSR requirements for line cards designed with lower power CFP2 and CFP4 optical modules.

Molex one of the largest manufacturers of interconnect products in the world, will showcase its zQSFP+ Interconnect System in the ecosystem demonstration. Molex's zQSFP+ SMT connectors are designed for 25Gbps applications and are backward compatible with current QSFP+ modules and cable assemblies. The connectors use a patent-pending preferential coupling design, which uses insert molding to support contact geometry to optimize electrical performance.

As a worldwide leader in silicon CMOS photonics, Luxtera will showcase its single chip opto-electronic transceiver which includes four fully integrated 28Gbps transmit and receive channels powered from a single laser for an aggregate unencoded data rate of up to 112Gbps. The device is targeted for 100GbE, OTN and InfiniBand applications as well as emerging Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) Short Reach and Very Short Reach (VSR) electrical interconnect to host systems.
