DCC to host skills competition Saturday


Feb 10, 2012 (Danville Register & Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Approximately 130 high school students are expected to participate in the District III SkillsUSA Competition, hosted by Danville Community College on Saturday.

The participating students represent schools in Amherst, Bedford, Franklin, Henry, Patrick, Halifax and Pittsylvania counties, as well Danville and Lynchburg. They will compete in 31 different categories.

The competitions begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day on DCC's main campus. An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in Oliver Hall (in the Temple Building) to recognize the winners.


"We are excited to host these events," says Robert Huffman, associate professor of drafting and design. "We have numerous campus volunteers who are working to ensure a successful competition."
