First Comprehensive Guide on Protection Against Electronic Hazards![]() TMCnet Contributor Award-winning author, nutritionist, and First for Women magazine columnist, Ann Louise Gittleman, released a new health book, Zapped; Why Your Cell Phone (News - Alert) Shouldn't be Your Alarm Clock and 1,268 Ways to Outsmart the Hazards of Electronic Pollution. The book provides a comprehensive, step-by-step guide to protect oneself from cell phone radiation hazards.
Ann's addiction towards her cell phone for several years led to the diagnosis with benign tumor of the parotid in the year 2005. Parotid tumor is a rare form of tumor that occurs in one of the salivary glands located below the earlobe. Ann was under the impression that cell phones and other household appliance were safe, however the diagnosis proved otherwise.
By combining the best of energy medicine with the latest scientific research, Ann discusses various ways to safeguard one's family from the electronic appliance hazards in a user-friendly approach. As per a research conducted by the American Journal of Epidemiology, parotid tumors were more likely among individuals who kept their cell phone against one side of their head. In a press release, Paul J. Rosch, MD, clinical professor of medicine and psychiatry at New York Medical College and emeritus member of The Bioelectromagnetics Society, said, 'Children are more severely affected because their brains are developing and their skulls are thinner. A two-minute call can alter brain function in a child for an hour, which is why other countries ban or discourage mobile phone use under the age of 18."
Although convenient and efficient, electronic and digital innovations are exposing people to numerous artificial electromagnetic frequencies and wavelengths. To reduce the effect of unwanted hazards, Americans can take simple measures such as remove WiFi (News - Alert) and cordless phone chargers in the bedrooms since they emit radio frequency power when un-used.
Baby monitors should be place at least six feet away from the crib since pulsed digital signals are more damaging than analog signals. It is common myth that walls do not allow magnetic fields hence refrigerators should not be placed against walls that share family rooms. Pregnant women should stay away from laptops since children are at risk of being exposed to electro-pollution while in the womb.
To create awareness among consumers, San Francisco has adopted an ordinance that requires retailers to inform consumers about the radiation levels of mobile phones at point of sale.
