Canon U.S.A. Updates MDS Program
Sep 09, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Canon U.S.A., Inc. has rolled out several new initiatives developed to enhance the Canon Managed Document Services (Canon MDS) program, including elements targeting national service infrastructure for its authorized dealer channel, environmental sustainability and new solutions improving efficiency across a broad range of single office to multi-fleet, enterprise-level engagements.
"Canon's approach to MDS begins with best-in-class hardware and a technology portfolio that includes the revolutionary imageRunner Advance platform that we complement with a range of customizable solutions and professional services to create a premiere MDS offering," said Sam Yoshida, VP and GM, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "With an increasing number of customers seeking to achieve significant document management efficiencies and greater control over total output management, Canon's MDS solutions provide a comprehensive, easy-to-implement program that delivers the bottom-line results necessary to succeed in today's business environment."
Canon said its new initiatives are designed to help channel partners effectively deliver services driving continuous business improvements and satisfaction.
The Canon Major Account Program (CMAP) provides infrastructure for centralized service dispatch, billing and helpdesk support for customers with multiple locations across the country. Using Canon's CMAP program, authorized Canon Dealers can support geographically dispersed customer locations under a common operating model ensuring national service dispatch and consistency in the delivery of help desk and billing services. For customers sourcing Canon MDS offerings, this represents a means of doing business, allowing them to focus on core business functions while Canon authorized Dealers manage their fleet.
With a focus on the environment becoming a key element of many service engagements, Canon is addressing the needs for "green IT solutions" by providing a new Ecology Information Plug-in for its centralized network management solution, imageWare Enterprise Management Console. The plug-in, which will be demonstrated at the Canon Expo 2010 New York, and available in 2011, provides accurate measurement and analysis of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions based on power consumption and paper volume usage. The Ecology Information Plug-in provides a highly visual and 3-D graphical display for insight into these metrics as well as the capability to make changes in printing behavior and meet corporate targets based on estimations of CO2 emission savings.
As dealers are faced with an increasing number of multi-fleet sales engagements, Canon is providing a new cost calculator facilitating accurate cost-analysis data across an entire print fleet of Canon brand devices. By calculating the costs inherent to CPC for multi-fleet sales and factoring the cost savings derived from utilizing streamlined servicing solutions, such as imageWare Remote, dealers can understand the costs and potential savings for large-scale device sales, while demonstrating the benefits and cost savings of automated serviceability to the customer.
In order to enable dealers to provide consistent support in service, Canon will provide the Remote Diagnostic System (RDS) Plug-in for imageWare Enterprise Management Console. A free plug-in supporting multi-vendor devices, the RDS Plug-in facilitates automated meter collection and pre-emptive service alerts as well as electronic billing from dealerships utilizing imageWare Remote to provide extraordinary, streamlined service across mixed customer fleets.
The latest enhancement to uniFlow output management tool, uniFlow V5.0 features a variety of new capabilities and functions allowing end-users and network administrators to focus on their core job functions. With the increasing demand for office solutions that streamline workflow to increase productivity, uniFlow v5.0 is designed to meet the needs of both large and small enterprises that require an advanced output management solution with significant flexibility. Through uniFlow v5.0, fleet administrators gain new tools to manage document costs including printing, faxing, copying and scanning, as well as enhanced fleet management controls that streamline IT functions.
In addition to new capabilities offered by uniFlow v5.0, Canon's imageWare Enterprise Management Console v3.1 (a core Canon MDS management tool) adds support for VMware. With this support, customers can utilize the system in virtual environments, further enhancing the ability to streamline operations and cost savings of enterprise IT systems and applications.
Canon U.S.A. is a provider of consumer, business-to-business, and industrial digital imaging solutions.
