Stampede Intros FX Series Space Communications Protocol Standard

Stampede Technologies (News - Alert) announced the release of its new FX Series SPCS product line that includes SkipWare, the Space Communications Protocol Standard, or “SCPS-TP.” As a leading provider of WAN optimization and acceleration solutions for Satellite and terrestrial-based networks, Stampede’s product integration is a result of an OEM agreement that Stampede entered into with Global Protocols.

SCPS-TP is the protocol solution that military agencies throughout the U.S. Department of Defense, or “DoD,” rely on. Global Protocol's SkipWare is an SCPS-TP implementation that has become the 'defacto standard' transport protocol for military satellite communications.

According to Gordon Dorworth, CEO of Stampede Technologies, the company’s pre-release testing with its partners and SCPS-TP users has proven substantial performance benefits over competitive products.

“Coupling our WAN optimization features with SkipWare delivers a huge value to military and government agencies,” Dorworth said. “We can help them substantially improve bandwidth utilization, saving 75 percent or more of their bandwidth, while speeding the delivery of mission-critical information to personnel located in areas of the world where bandwidth is scarce and expensive.”

With SkipWare integrated into Stampede's FX Series appliances, military and government agencies will have faster and more secure delivery of mission-critical information needed to do their job from any remote location. The U.S. DoD operates in areas of the world where bandwidth is very scarce and expensive. Coupling Stampede's robust optimization and acceleration technologies with SkipWare provides substantial benefits to military customers.

Stampede has announced the availability of three FX Series SCPS models: the FX 4000-SCPS, a 1U head-end appliance that supports up to 155 Mbps capacity; the FX 2000, a 1U head-end or remote appliance that supports up to 45 Mbps capacity; and the FX 1000, a 1U Branch Office appliance that supports up to 15 Mbps capacity.

What’s more, the Stampede FX Series SCPS WAN optimization and acceleration appliances deliver substantial feature advantages over competing WAN optimization solutions, with dramatically higher performance, and the integration of the “defacto” SCPS-TP. Now Stampede offers the best of both, a robust implementation of SCPS-TP that delivers total interoperability with existing SCPS-TP devices, and rich WAN optimization and acceleration features that reduce traffic payload, and substantially improve response and download times. The Stampede FX Series SCPS is a fully-integrated solution. Users can easily deploy it - with no other software or implementation service required.

Stampede will be exhibiting at Satellite 2010 in Washington, DC on March 16-18, 2010 - Booth 449.
