2ergo Acquires ActiveMedia Technologies

2ergo, an international provider of mobile enabling technology has acquired U.K. headquartered ActiveMedia Technologies Group – a global provider of mobile ticketing and couponing solutions and one of India’s mobile marketing and value added services company serving India and South East Asia.


 

AMT (News - Alert) UK claims that it is a pioneer of mobile couponing - the first to commercially launch a mobile couponing/CRM solution in Europe and to transact the highest number of mobile coupons worldwide.
 
“This is a major step forward in our global expansion in the BRIC region and leadership in digital mobile globally. Not only does this deal give us an operation in India, the world’s fastest growing mobile phone market, but it means that from now on, we will plan to integrate AMT’s intellectual property and expertise into the 2ergo offering globally as part of an enhanced suite of products and services to our existing and global customers,” said Chris Brassington, group managing director of 2ergo, in a statement.
 
Brassington said that there are 453 million mobile phone users in India, approximately six times the size of the UK market, and numbers are increasing by more than 11 million per month.
 
He said that the Indian mobile market holds vast potential for the company with 10 per cent of users choosing Internet enabled mobile phones in a technology leap that forgoes computers in favor of straight to mobile data.
 
AMT employs more than 50 people across its operations in London, New Delhi, and Mumbai. It serves India’s major mobile phone operators. The acquisition follows the incorporation of AMT into 2ergo’s Business Partner Program at the start of the year.
 
Ariya Priyasantha, managing director of AMT said that following the success enjoyed by joining 2ergo’s Business Partner Program earlier this year, the company is delighted to be part of the 2ergo group.
 
“Through the integration of our mobile couponing and ticketing products into the 2ergo offering, we are now able to offer a complete mobile marketing, CRM and loyalty solution to our existing customers as well as opening up couponing and ticketing to 2ergo’s customers and new clients globally,” said Priyasantha.
 
He said that the combined offering will be very compelling for retailers, mobile network operators, FMCG, entertainment and media companies.
