TMCnet News

Officials at Citel say that the latest version of their Portico Telephone VoIP Adapter, or “TVATM,” with built-in IP-PBX, Citel Communication Manager 200, will be on display at TMC’s (News - Alert) Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO East 2008, Feb. 2 to 4, 2009 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida.

The ITEXPO is the world’s largest and best-attended IP Communications trade show. At the 2008 east coast event last January, the show drew more than 7,000 buyers and sellers of IP Communications products and services. The show in January will mark the 10th anniversary and be the 19th ITEXPO, and TMC once again projects total attendance to exceed 7,000.

“Citel’s participation at the ITEXPO exemplifies why this show is widely recognized as the number one venue where service providers, enterprises, government agencies, developers and resellers gather to learn about the benefits inherent in IP Communications products and services,” said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), TMC’s president and the event’s chairman. “The evolution in this industry has been monumental and it still continues to grow. We are proud to have Citel and its Citel Communication Manager 200 as a key part of this year’s program.”

Citel will introduce the world’s first IP-PBX that’ll allow the customer to support legacy digital phones and IP phone on the Citel Communication Manager 200. The CCM 200 will allow customer to deploy a mix of digital and IP Telephones together from one system.

Officials from Amherst, New York-based Citel also will showcase their line-up of IP Phones, the so-called “Citel C-Series,” and will demonstrate Citel Portico TVATM, a product that enables enterprises to reduce the cost of migrating to a Voice over IP platform by up to 70 percent, utilizing existing handsets and wiring, while eliminating the need for retraining employees to utilize a new VoIP system.

According to Citel Chief Executive Officer Laj Prasher, the TVATM is available with 12 or 24 ports and interoperates with a variety of IP call control platforms. It supports more than 100 handset types including Avaya Definity, Ericsson, NEC (News - Alert) DTERM, Nortel Meridian, Norstar, and P phone, Panasonic DBS, Siemens optiset and optiPoint, and Toshiba Strata DK, Prasher said.

“With over 300 million TDM PBX handsets continuing to power enterprise voice communications today, we believe the Citel product suite will continue to accelerate the adoption of VoIP both in hosted and premise-based IP PBX environments,” Prasher said. “We look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate our New products as well as our Portico TVA to the attendee at the IPEXO in Miami, Florida.”
