BRIEF: Bank robber escapes through St. Paul skyways
Jan 08, 2009 (Star Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The first Twin Cities bank robbery of the new year happened Tuesday afternoon when a man held up a TCF Bank in downtown St. Paul, the FBI said.
A man carrying a small, green, gift-type bag and possibly a folding cane entered the bank at 444 Cedar St. at 4:50 p.m. and gave a teller a note demanding money.
The robber ran from the bank with cash and escaped through the skyway system, said E.K. Wilson, an FBI special agent.
The robber is described as a white man believed to be in his mid-30s to mid-40s. He is about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches tall and 170 pounds and has a medium build and scruffy appearance. He was wearing a tan-colored bomber hat with ear flaps, a gray quarter-zip fleece top and light-colored pants or jeans.
The FBI asks anyone with information about the robbery to call 612-376-3200.
