Volt Workforce Solutions Presenting Collaboration Methods
(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
According to Volt Workforce Solutions, successful collaboration among
software quality teams demands techniques to accelerate and streamline
decision-making, and using preferential voting systems and other voting
methods are often the best way to obtain buy-in and determine best
alternatives.
Volt Workforce Solutions, a staffing business unit of Volt Information
Sciences, will present various voting systems as a path to group
collaboration at the annual Pacific Northwest Software Quality
Conference (PNSQC) in Portland, Oregon, October 13-15. Dr. James
McCaffrey, senior director of Volt Technical Resources, a division of
VWS, will discuss "Collaborative Techniques for the Determination of a
Best Alternative in a Software Quality Environment."
"Voting for change in a software quality environment is much the same
as voting among any electorate," said McCaffrey. "Using mathematically
defined voting models can help software team members to make strategic
decisions and achieve consensus. The result of this vote-based
collaboration can be accelerated product development, decreased costs,
and increased innovation."
Topics covered in Dr. McCaffrey's presentation include: 1.)
Understanding and using the Borda count, the Condorcet, and the Schulze
methods. 2.) Evaluating the factors which influence collaborative
techniques, such as the extent to which evaluators are affected by the
final result of the analysis. 3.) Knowing when the use of collaborative
determination techniques are appropriate and when other approaches are
indicated.
The PNSQC is one of the longest running software quality conferences in
the U.S. promoting professional growth among peers, industry experts
and academics in the software arena.
