CIOs from Avis, Nortel and the World Bank Predict what Recessionary Conditions will do to Outsourcing
NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- OutsourceWorld, www.outsourceworld.com, the premier conference and thought-leadership forum focused on driving business development in the global sourcing, today announced a CIO roundtable that will address trends in IT spending and the impact of recessionary conditions on outsourcing. The panel will be moderated by Abbie Lundberg of CIO Magazine and features Russ Finney, CIO of Tokyo Electron; Steven Bandrowczak, CIO of Nortel; Gerard Insall, CIO of Avis; and Bill Piatt, CIO of the World Bank. The roundtable will take place on Wednesday, October 15, at 2:45 p.m. at OutsourceWorld, which is being held at the Javits Center.
The panel comes at a historic economic time globally, one in which companies are evaluating all expenditures and costs. The assembled CIOs plan to discuss the outsourcing strategy needed in today's challenging economy, giving changing IT spending plans and ROI expectations. Some companies are looking to outsourcing as a means to market entry and innovation. The panel will discuss how to manage these differing outsourcing endeavors in a time of almost constant economic and financial fluctuation.
"The current financial situation is placing even more pressure on IT departments and others to show productivity and profit among internal and outsourced activities," said David Etzler, Chief Executive Officer of OutsourceWorld. "This panel will give real-world advice from decision makers on how to manage current outsourced projects and investigate others in a climate of almost constant fluctuation. The opportunity to hear what the CIOs of the World Bank, Nortel and Avid would and are doing in this environment is extremely valuable."
