Lanmark Controls' New Laser Marking Controller Eliminates the Need for a PC

BOXBOROUGH, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Lanmark(R) Controls, Inc. (www.lanmarkcontrols.com) recently released its new LanMarker(R) LEC-1 Embedded Controller Card, the first laser marking controller for galvanometer-based laser scanning systems that allows users to save marking jobs directly to the controller - eliminating the need for a PC.

The compact, completely integrated, Ethernet-based "smart" LEC-1 Controller runs its own WinLase(R) Embedded Software and provides a range of options for laser marking job creation, loading, and control. Users can create and edit job content using Lanmark's WinLase LAN Laser Marking Software or a third-party package.

"Think of the LEC-1 as the brains of a network printer," explains John Oskirko, President of Lanmark Controls, "where the printer plugs into the network, not your PC. Laser marking systems incorporating LEC-1 boards can now be networked, and all of them are visible and controllable from a single PC on the same network. Now imagine that you can store marking jobs on the 'printer' - which in this case is the LEC-1 enabled laser marking system - and interact with those jobs without having a PC involved. That's the power of the LEC-1 Controller."

The LEC-1 gives users maximum flexibility for equipment location, increased productivity, and dramatically lower computer costs. The Controller also provides simplified management in distributed automation environments where one computer can manage an array of LEC-1 Controllers attached to the network.

Users can easily download marking tasks onto the LEC-1 Controller via a local area network. Local execution job control occurs through an Ethernet or RS-232 based Remote Command API, or optional handheld pendant.
