Michael Davis of Savid Technologies to Speak at ChicagoCon 2008
CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- Michael Davis, CEO of Savid Technologies, a software development and security consultancy firm located in Tinley Park, IL, will be speaking at the fall edition of ChicagoCon 2008 on October 31st at 4 p.m. on the "Modernization of Malware Factories." The conference features keynote speakers, security boot camps, and exams, followed by a two-day ethical hacking conference, all presented by The Ethical Hacking Network (http://www.ethicalhacker.net/).
The new generation of malware authors has begun to utilize the same techniques as professional software development organizations and the developers that write the software to protect us. These malware factories are becoming more aggressive, resilient and profitable. Davis' talk will cover tools, methodologies and techniques that these new-age malware writers use and provide documented examples of these techniques within malware source code.
"Speaking at ChicagoCon 2008's fall conference will be a wonderful opportunity to interact with other security experts and those in the field who are looking to expand their knowledge in the security sector," said Davis. "It is a truly beneficial experience for those in attendance, with top notch instructors and in-depth workshops on topics that are of prime interest to today's security experts."
Davis will speak during the Security Training portion of the conference, which is being held Monday through Friday and features boot camp style training. Attendees may apply to take exams and become certified in CISSP, CISA, MS ISA Server 2006, CCENT/CCNA, CWNA, CEH, CHFI and ECSA. All materials, including computers, course materials and most meals will be provided and the exams are proctored on-site. The two-day ethical hacking conference will follow Security Training and will be held on Friday and Saturday with hourly presentations and breakout sessions.
Davis is an expert on security and risk assessment and has spoken at previous events, including Black Hat and Defcon. He is also a senior member of the HoneyNet Project where he works to develop data and network control mechanisms for Windows-based honeynets. In addition, Davis has worked with McAfee as Senior Manager of Global Threats and is currently finalizing contributions to Hacking Exposed: Malware and Rootkits, which is due to be released in 2009.
