Apparent Networks, Inc., a
leading provider of network performance diagnostic solutions, today
announced Jack Sweeney has joined as President and CEO. He comes to
Apparent Networks from EMC, where he was VP of Mergers & Acquisitions.
Founder and former President and CEO Irfhan Rajani will remain with the
company in an advisory role.

A career CEO, Sweeney has successfully led several telecom and networking
companies from inception to acquisition. His previous experience includes
having served as President and CEO of Network Intelligence, acquired by EMC
for $175 million. As President and CEO of Stargus, he led the company's
sale to C-Cor, Inc. With EPiCON, Sweeney served as CEO, brokering the
company's acquisition by Nortel Networks for $450 million. As CEO of Bell
Atlantic Network Integration, he grew the organization from a regional
network services division into a $330 million company.

"The ability to attract a leader with Jack's talent speaks volumes to
Apparent Networks' potential to provide enterprises and service providers
with a level of network transparency previously unavailable," offered Ben
Nye, Board Member and Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures. "Given his
strong industry ties and real-world understanding of the challenges facing
the networking industry, Jack will play a central role in building upon the
company's current successes and positioning it for future growth."

Apparent Networks is well-positioned to extend its market leadership with
more than 135 customers, 17,000 users, and strategic partnerships with
firms such as ACS, Nortel, Polycom, and Toshiba. In July 2007, the company
raised $13.6 million in Series B financing from investors including Bain
Capital Ventures, JMI Equity and existing investors.

"Apparent Networks has done an incredible job at solving the
business-critical management obstacles faced by today's network managers,"
said Sweeney. "The volume of high-level customers already attracted by
this Series B-stage company is testimony to the market potential that lies
ahead."
