Top 100 Online Retailer Sierra Trading Post Using AlertSite to Monitor the Performance of its Website

As websites become increasingly complex, in terms of the functionality they deliver and the new technologies they employ, it has become difficult for organizations to continuously monitor and measure their performance. As such, many organizations are turning to third party providers with expertise in Web technology to ensure that their Web sites are accessible by everyone – and furthermore that they are functioning at peak performance once visitors arrive.



Coconut Creek, Fla.-based AlertSite is a provider of Web performance measurement, systems monitoring and security vulnerability scanning products which help ensure that critical Web-based services are always optimized. The company offers a suite of hosted Internet services that help companies of all types and sizes reduce costly downtime; identify and eliminate security vulnerabilities; deliver proof of performance to management and customers; quantify and track IT investment; analyze and solve problems faster; measure and report performance against SLAs; and optimize e-business performance.

The company today announced that online retailer Sierra Trading Post will be using its Business Transaction Monitor with DéjàClick -- the first inside-the-browser transaction record and playback system that employs TrueUser browser content capture to monitor web application performance. This powerful software lets you monitor Web page content from the perspective of the desktop user. It is also used to automate the scripting process used to monitor web transactions.



“We consider customer satisfaction our number one priority; any negative setbacks that could affect a customer’s online shopping experience are of great concern to us,” said Andy Newlin, Director of eCommerce at Sierra Trading Post, in a press release. “AlertSite’s one-of-a-kind TrueUser DéjàClick technology is invaluable, because it makes it possible for us to measure a typical user’s experience on our site from an inside the web browser perspective.”

Cheyenne, Wyo.-based Sierra Trading Post deals in name-brand overstocks and closeouts, selling outdoor clothing, footwear, home furnishings, accessories and other gear at savings of 35 to 70 percent. A top-100 Internet retailer and a top-100 direct marketer, the company employs more than 700 people and mails over 50 million catalogs a year in the United States. Sierra Trading Post now joins AlertSite’s more than 2,000 customers, including Ditech.com, Purina Mills, Vermont Teddy Bear, Honda, Ryder and Southern California Edison (News - Alert).

“AlertSite will provide Sierra Trading Post with performance metrics enabling them to make key business decisions regarding their critical online transactions.
