LogistiCare Donates Record Amount of Food During Eighth Annual Food Drive

LogistiCare, the nation's largest non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) broker, today announced it collected a record amount of food during its Eighth Annual Food Drive. In total, the company donated more than 42,000 items, greatly surpassing the previous record of 30,000 food products collected and distributed in 2016.

The effort is part of LogistiCare's mission of giving to those in need across the country. Food donations are provided to local churches, rescue missions, soup kitchens and shelters for women and the homeless.

"Without the commitment of donors like LogistiCare, we would not be able to serve the neediest in our community," said Tricia Passuth, director of community ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. "Due to the generosity of their employees, we will be able to provide 65 families with food this holiday season."

In the past four years, employees of the Atlanta-based company donated more than 127,000 food items at their 22 operations centers across the country. This year, the company's team in Norton, Virginia led the way, collecting more than 16,000 items. They were followed by the Edison, New Jersey operations center, which collected more than 11,000 items and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma operations center, which donated more than 3,000 food products.

"Our commitment to the communitis we serve is at the heart of who we are as an organization and what we believe," said LogistiCare CEO Jeff Felton. "I am immensely proud of our employees for their continued generosity and dedication to fighting hunger in this country. I hope that at this time next year, we're reporting on another record-setting food drive."

Since its inception in 1986, LogistiCare has been dedicated to supporting the needs of the underserved from its efforts with United We Ride (UWR) - which provides efficient and safe transportation for the underserved - to its sponsorship of the National Kidney Foundation. Each year, company employees commit to complete fundraising walks in 20 cities across the country to raise money in support of the foundation's mission of preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. To date, LogistiCare staff members have raised more than $375,000.
