BRIEF: Knox residents can now pay taxes with phones

KNOXVILLE, Feb 22, 2013 (The Knoxville News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Knox County residents can now use their cell phones to pay taxes, Knox County Trustee John Duncan III announced this morning.

To pay, people can log onto the department's website, www.knoxcounty.org/trustee, and click the "Mobile Quick Pay" link, which accepts secure credit card payments.

Residents can still pay their tax bill at participating banks, including American Trust Bank of East Tennessee, BB&T, First Tennessee, Home Federal and U.S. Bank. Additionally, they can visit any of the department's satellite offices, which are located in Cedar Bluff, East Knoxville, Farragut, Halls and South Knoxville.

Payments sent by mail will be accepted as on time so long as they are postmarked by Feb. 28, which is the deadline.

More details as they develop online and in Saturday's News Sentinel.
