Azerbaijan's recent launch of a satellite into orbit must be considered a landmark event in the country's history, Deputy Chairman -- Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov told its official website today.
"I think this significant event is a very important result of Azerbaijan's recent comprehensive and rapid development," he said. "Economic dynamics, modernization and growth trends made Azerbaijan's accession to the ranks of space faring countries quite expected."
He added that Azerbaijan's modern history has been enriched by many ambitious projects.
"It is more than enough to list the "Contract of the Century", the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, incredible economic advances, unusual infrastructure projects, the reworking of Baku's now fantastic image and other examples of grand development. Finally, a successful satellite launch can be added to the list."
Ahmadov is confident that the first Azerbaijani satellite launch into orbit will play a significant role in further strengthening the country's image as a modern, developed state which has mastered the most advanced technologies and will give great impetus to its technological development.
"I congratulate President Aliyev the initiator and guarantor of all necessary conditions for this project's ambitious implementation, as well as the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of this event," he said.
