CalAmp enters into development agreement with CaterpillarFeb 07, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- CalAmp, a provider of wireless products, services and solutions, has entered into a development agreement with Caterpillar Inc., a heavy equipment manufacturer, to provide it with ruggedized wireless routers that will enable vital data communications for equipment deployed around the globe. Under the agreement, CalAmp is providing a customized version of its Vanguard mobile wireless broadband router for multi-carrier operation on both CDMA and GSM networks around the world, as well as a satellite communication version of Vanguard for connecting with Caterpillar equipment deployed in remote locations without cellular coverage. "Robust and reliable, Vanguard offers ubiquitous operation and carrier network redundancy, as well as broad versatility for connecting both remote fixed and mobile assets to enterprise applications," said Mike Zachan, vice president and General Manager of CalAmp's Wireless Networks business.
