The sunrise sector [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]

(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "Telecommunication industry is one of the fastest growing industries of the world. India being the fourth largest market in Asia has 750 million phone connections and it has the third largest telecommunication network in the world. The sector is also lifeline of booming IT industry. For the past decade, telecommunication activities gained tremendous momentum in the country and offer enormous employment opportunities to talented and skilled professionals. According to the experts the sector is expected to be one of the major employment providers in the country.

Technically, telecommunication encompasses any communication over a distance, be it via telephone, television, radio, wireless network, computer network or telemetry. These days, technologies are converging - you can access the internet, play videos, or track your childrens' movements via the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology on your cell phone. Thus, the lines between telecommunication and other industries like computer hardware and consumer electronics are getting more and more blurred.

Telecommunications is a mammoth industry, comprising companies that manufacture hardware, develop software and provide services. Hardware includes a vast range of products that enable communication across the entire planet, from video broadcasting satellites to telephone handsets to fibre-optic transmission cables. Services include running the switches that control the phone system, providing internet access and configuring private networks by which international corporations conduct business. Software makes it all work, from sending and receiving e-mails to relaying satellite data, to controlling telephone switching equipment to reducing background noise on your cell phone call. The breakup of AT&T in 1984 created the modern telecommunications industry, subjecting phone companies to free market forces for the first time. Further, the Telecommunications Act of 1996 deregulated local phone markets. India's mobile phone market is the fastest growing in the world with companies adding some 6 million new customers per month. Tele density which was just 4% till 2001, rose to 27% to 140% in last five years.

Engineers studying or working in India always look for the opportunities abroad. Competent professionals find it little difficult in getting a job in foreign countries. Some of the companies offering jobs to Indian graduate are MTN Telecom, Airtel Lanka, Dialog Telecom Malaysia, Matrix Telecom, Alliance Telecom, Telenor Norway etc. " Credit:Team DNA (c) 2012 @ 2012 DILIGENT MEDIA CORPORATION LTD.
