Oct 10, 2011 (KIAH-TV - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- It's time to get your costume ready for Halloween. But one costume out in stores this year has people horrified.

People are saying the famous costume seller Ricky's NYC in New York City went too far with its 'Anna Rexia' costume.

The costume consists of a black mini-dress, printed with a glittery skeleton, headband, choker, removable 'Anna Rexia' badge and a belt that is printed to look like a measuring tape.

The headband sports what appears to be a novelty bone. And what is even more insulting is that the model sporting the costume is voluptuous and anything but anorexic.

On the costumer's web site, the product description read: "Make no bones about it -- this dress will spark some conversations." William Walters, of the National Eating Disorders Association, told the Village Voice: "It makes light of something really serious... It's hard for us to find it funny. It makes light of something really serious." According to the Department of Health, it is estimated that 8 million Americans have an eating disorder - seven million women and one million men. One in 200 American women suffers from anorexia. After an angry reaction Ricky's NYC removed the item from its shelves.

However, after doing an internet search the costume is still available through other sites.
