While some companies are bringing employees back to their offices full time, most are sticking with some form of remote or hybrid arrangements. The reason is simple – it works and, in most, provides benefits to both employers and employees, particularly when they have managers that embrace it and take steps to ensure a collaborative and team-oriented environment, regardless of geography.
That’s where the world seems to be stabilizing.
“We are in a very stable hybrid work arrangement,” Prithwiraj Choudhury a professor at Harvard Business School whose studies are focused on the future of work, told Inc. “About 27 to 30 percent of the workdays across the economy, including all jobs, are being done in a remote way.”
Considering the number of frontline and other jobs that, by nature, must be in-person, the number is likely significantly higher among those workers who could perform their roles both in-person and remotely.
That means solutions like video conference, chat platforms, and other collaboration tools remain essential to connecting remote teams, and why conference and Huddle rooms should be a priority for companies, to ensure their teams have the best and most collaborative experiences.
It also explains why the space continues to grow, as the need for flexible, collaborative workspaces is a necessity. Analysts at Grand View Research, for example, project the video conferencing market to expand at a CAGR of 9.7% from 2024 to 2030. Other firms predict even bigger growth, which is fueled by the rising demand for remote collaboration tools, the globalization of businesses, and the need to reduce travel costs.
Huddle rooms are important because they create dedicated spaces for smaller teams to connect, brainstorm, and collaborate effectively, whether with in-office or remote participants. At the same time, they must be easy to use and accommodate the demand for quick and simple meetings – call it Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM).
“The flexibility and lower cost of BYOM solutions, where users bring their laptops or mobile devices to connect to a room's AV system, has seen a significant rise, as hybrid and flexible work models became more common,” said Boom Collaboration Co-founder Holli Hulett. “In many ways, huddle rooms represent the market hot-spot.”
To accommodate this demand, Boom Collaboration has just launched its “meeting room in a box” kit. It’s an all-in-one solution is specifically designed for huddle rooms and smaller meeting spaces, aiming to streamline installation and capitalize on the demand for quick and easy meeting setup -- Bring Your Own Meeting, if you will. The kit’s debut comes at a good time, as businesses increasingly recognize the value of effective communication and collaboration in today's hybrid work landscape, and desire simple ways to accommodate those needs. Nobody wants complicated conference systems that take too long or require specialized training to set up.
“In recent years there’s been an explosion in huddle room deployments and our new kit is ideally suited to these types of smaller more versatile locations,” Hulett said.

The BYOM Small Room Kit is a comprehensive package featuring the high-definition MEZZO 4K wide-angle camera, the professional-grade GIRO Pro wireless audio speakerphone with 360-degree omnidirectional audio capture, and a user-friendly ZYGO plug-and-play hub. This integrated approach reflects Boom Collaboration’s efforts to simplify meeting technology and ensuring seamless user experiences across diverse devices and platforms.
A key feature is that users can leverage their own laptops or mobile devices to connect to in-room systems. These BYOM setups deliver greater flexibility, cost savings, and platform agnosticism, all of which align well with the needs of today's dynamic work environments.
“The use of individual devices is now firmly taking over with plug-and-play simplicity, lower costs and a platform agnostic approach some of the main driving forces,” noted Boom Co-founder Fredrik Hörnkvist. “Our new dedicated kit for smaller rooms makes it easy for installers and their customers to create the optimal BYOM meeting experience in a quick and hassle-free way.”
Effective communication and collaboration drive business success. It’s been long argued that clear video and audio facilitate more clarity, reduce misunderstandings, and foster stronger team connections, regardless of location. Equally important, though, is ease-of-use, which Boom Collaboration delivering while lowering the barrier to entry for businesses to equip their small-group meeting spaces high-quality conferencing capabilities.
