Discuss Ways to Overcome Challenges Related to Telecom and IT Convergence at ITEXPO 2025

By Greg Tavarez December 31, 2024

The traditional boundaries between telecom and IT are dissolving due to the rise of hybrid networks, a fusion of physical and virtual infrastructures. Being more specific, hybrid networks blurred the lines between traditional telecom services like voice and data and IT-centric offerings such as cloud computing and data center services. With this comes exciting opportunities and tough challenges for service providers.

First, the opportunities.

One opportunity lies in the ability to offer integrated solutions to customers. Telecom providers can combine their expertise in network infrastructure with an understanding of IT services to become one-stop shops for businesses seeking to modernize their operations. This includes everything from designing and implementing hybrid cloud solutions to providing managed security services and optimizing data center operations.

The increasing reliance on cloud technologies has also created a new avenue for growth for telecom providers. They can use their existing network infrastructure and expertise in connectivity to become key enablers of cloud adoption for businesses of all sizes. This involves providing high-bandwidth connections to cloud platforms, as well as helping customers migrate their applications and data to the cloud securely and efficiently.

Now, for the challenges.

One of the primary challenges is the need to acquire new skills and expertise in areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analytics. This requires investment in training and development programs for their workforce.

Another challenge regards the need to adapt their business models to compete in this new, more integrated landscape. This may involve diversifying their service offerings, developing new partnerships with technology vendors and investing in new technologies such as AI and machine learning.

So, how do service providers overcome the challenges and navigate themselves through this grey area?

There is a great chance to learn how at ITEXPO 2025, taking place February 11-13, 2025, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since 1999, ITEXPO (News - Alert) has combined educational conference programming with an exhibit hall, networking events, and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services that drive business success.

At ITEXPO, a panel session titled “The Convergence (News - Alert) of Telecom and IT: Opportunities and Challenges for Service Providers” will look at strategies for navigating the convergence between telecom and IT. Strategies will include capitalizing on the opportunities it presents for growth, partnerships and customer value.

The panel session will take place from 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, February 13, 2025. Register today to attend ITEXPO and this informative session.
