Microsoft (News - Alert) Metaswitch was a division of Microsoft specializing in software and solutions for communication service providers (CSPs). Its primary focus was on helping these companies modernize their networks and deliver new services.
Metaswitch offered a range of products, including network functions virtualization platforms, VoIP solutions and cloud communication platforms. These solutions enabled CSPs to:
- Transition to cloud-based infrastructure: Virtualize network functions and deploy them more flexibly and cost-effectively.
- Introduce new services: Offer innovative communication services like VoIP, messaging, and video conferencing to customers.
- Improve operational efficiency: Streamline processes and reduce costs associated with managing communication networks.
That said, Microsoft previously announced end-of-life for their Metaswitch MaX UC offering and stated that they will sell off their Metaswitch division, which prompted many service providers to actively seek new and improved partner solutions to support their transition.
One such provider is Popp Communications. Looking to move on from Metaswitch, Popp Communications turned to Crexendo.
Crexendo, an exhibitor of ITEXPO (News - Alert) 2025 (taking place February 11-13, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida), is a software technology company that is a premier provider of cloud communication platform software and UCaaS offerings, including voice, video, contact center and managed IT services tailored to businesses of all sizes.
