Motorola Solutions Now Offering Cloud-Based Next Generation 911 Call Routing

By Stefania Viscusi August 15, 2023

Motorola Solutions announced it expanded its Next Generation Core Services (NGCS) portfolio with a new CommandCentral Router, an innovative cloud-based 911 call routing platform.

This move represents one of the industry's earliest forays into cloud-driven emergency call routing. It aligns with the National Emergency Number Association's (NENA) i3 standards and seamlessly integrates with all of Motorola (News - Alert) Solutions' emergency call management offerings.

Perhaps the biggest benefit of the new offering is that it delivers robust and dependable 911 call routing capabilities to public safety answering points (PSAPs) via the cloud.

By aligning with NENA's i3 standards, it ensures compatibility and adherence to established industry benchmarks. Also, its integration with Motorola Solutions' existing emergency call management suite provides a comprehensive ecosystem for effective emergency response coordination and allowing for quicker and more accurate call routing.

“Our customers want choice in their 911 call routing to best meet their unique needs,” said Dan Twohig, vice president of NGCS at Motorola Solutions. “CommandCentral Router offers agencies the benefits of our traditional data center-based call routing solution via a multi-cloud software-as-a-service offering, delivering the scalability and mission-critical performance our customers expect.”

Motorola Solutions' advanced 911 call routing solutions serve around 45 million individuals through various North American agencies. Berkeley County, West Virginia, is among the notable early adopters.

“At Berkeley County, we pride ourselves on adopting new technology as a means for better serving our community,” said Gary A. Wine, Berkeley County Administrator. “Our team fields hundreds of emergency and non-emergency calls daily and Motorola Solutions’ cloud-based CommandCentral Router will give us the confidence that those calls will be routed without disruption or delay.”
