Genedata Launches Fully Integrated Electronic Lab Notebook to Help Biopharma R&D Teams Move FasterNew ELN connects experimental context and structured scientific data across R&D workflows, creating an AI-ready foundation for faster, more informed decisions BASEL, Switzerland, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Genedata, a Danaher company and leading provider of enterprise software for biopharmaceutical R&D, today launched an electronic lab notebook (ELN) integrated directly into the Genedata platform, connecting experimental context with scientific data across discovery and development. By bringing previously fragmented information into a continuous scientific record, the new capability helps biopharma R&D teams preserve knowledge, make better-informed decisions, and innovate faster.
Unlike traditional ELNs, Genedata's ELN is embedded natively within the R&D process, supporting end-to-end discovery and development workflows for biologics and other complex modalities such as ADCs, bispecifics, cell and gene therapies, and peptides. It builds on Genedata's proven data model, linking directly to molecules, samples, process parameters, and assay and analytics results already managed in the platform reducing manual data transfers and eliminating inconsistencies between applications. Experiment documentation remains tied to a candidate's complete development history — from design and molecular biology through screening, engineering, expression, purification, and analytics to upstream and downstream process development, formulation, and analytical development — providing scientists and AI systems with consistent, traceable data across the full R&D lifecycle. "As biologics pipelines grow in complexity, decisions and experimental context must be brought together across increasingly diverse workflows", said Othmar Pfannes, Ph.D., President of Genedata. "While traditional ELNs operate independently and cause knowledge to be fragmented, we solved that issue by aligning underlying data structures, scientific concepts and metadata to ensure information can be consistently searched, analyzed, reused, and leveraged by AI applications." The Genedata ELN links experiments to sample identities, properties, lineage, and physical locations, while integrated LIMS and laoratory workflow execution capabilities coordinate requests and tasks across internal laboratories, centralized facilities, CROs, and CDMOs. Connections to laboratory and IT systems, instruments, and robotics further reduce manual data handling and bring documentation closer to laboratory execution. By bringing ELN, LIMS, sample management, registration, and laboratory workflow execution together across the Genedata platform, the ELN provides built-in data integrity while increasing R&D efficiency. Organizations can now work more coherently and move seamlessly from experimental design to outcomes and decisions. Historical work is easier to revisit, institutional knowledge is fully preserved, and project handovers are simplified. This unified environment also supports data science, predictive modeling, automation, and AI-driven initiatives without the cost and complexity of connecting fragmented systems. "Genedata is not introducing just another ELN. We are fundamentally rethinking what an ELN should be in the age of AI," said Othmar Pfannes, Ph.D., President of Genedata. "By natively combining structured data and workflows with experimental context in a single scientific record, the platform delivers a harmonized user experience based on a shared, computationally accessible foundation for AI-driven R&D."
