Financial Executives International Launches Media Finance SectionFinancial leaders in media and entertainment join FEI's cross-industry community MORRISTOWN, N.J., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Financial Executives International (FEI) today opened its Media Finance Section, the association's first industry-specific section and the new home for the members, programming and peer networks of the Media Financial Management Association (MFM). The Section gives financial leaders in media and entertainment a permanent place inside one of the longest-standing communities of senior-level corporate financial executives, and it gives that community a direct line into an industry that is rewriting how subscription, advertising, and content revenue is earned, valued and reported.
MFM members voted to approve the merger on July 15, 2026, following due diligence and board endorsement by both organizations. MFM, founded in 1961 and serving approximately 1,200 business and financial executives across broadcast, cable, publishing, streaming and digital media, now operates as FEI's Media Finance Section. "Media and entertainment financial leaders are working through questions that much of corporate finance is only beginning to confront: bundled revenue, content valuation, structural separations and the use of AI in the close," said Andrej Suskavcevic, CAE, President and CEO of FEI. "Giving that work a named seat inside FEI does two things at once: it connects media finance professionals with peers across every industry, and it brings their hard-won experience to the broader finance community. Both were overdue." What is live today
Why it matters Finance teams across media and entertainment have absorbed a sustained run of structural change: revenue arriving through bundles and platform intermediaries rather than direct customer relationships, content assets whose carrying values move with shifting distribution strategy, mid-year separations of linear and streaming businesses, and advertising sold against inventory that did not exist in the prior reporting period. Those are no longer media-only problems. They are appearing across consumer products, software, sports and healthcare as more businesses shift from selling units to sustaining subscriptions. Placing media finance inside a broader financial-executive community is intended to move expertise in both directions: cross-industry peer exchange, research capacity and policy voice for media finance professionals, and early visibility into emerging reporting and control questions for the wider membership.
