Coursera's Micro-Credentials Impact Report 2026, based on perspectives from over 3,500 learners, employers, and higher education leaders regarding the rising demand for micro-credentials and their real-world impact, found that 79% of US employers say that micro-credential holders demonstrate improved productivity in their first year. "Over the next decade, over 1.2 billion people are due to enter the global workforce, while 60% of the world's existing workforce will also require reskilling," said Marni Baker Stein, Chief Content Officer, Coursera. Surveys were conducted online and by telephone using computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).
