Eye-Fi Launches Eye-Fi Labs for Users to Test New Products; Announces Desktop Receiver for Mac

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/07/14 -- Eye-Fi (www.eyefi.com), the global leader in wireless memory cards, is launching Eye-Fi Labs, an experimental platform for customers that want to preview and test new Eye-Fi technology. Eye-Fi Labs will host new mobile apps and beta product features for its popular wireless memory cards before they're available to the general public.

Additionally, Eye-Fi is also announcing beta Mac desktop receiver software for its Mobi card, following the release of its Windows desktop receiver last month. The Eye-Fi Mobi card will now instantly transfer directly to both Mac and Windows desktops and provide users even more device options for photos and video transfer.

Eye-Fi will be demonstrating its Mobi card and new features at CES 2014 in Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 7th through Friday, January 10th at Eye-Fi's booth, location LVH MP40020, and at Showstoppers on Tuesday, January 7th.

"We have lots of exciting new product ideas to share in 2014," said Matt DiMaria, CEO of Eye-Fi. "With Eye-Fi Labs, our product teams have a platform to directly engage customers in our product development process. Our customers gain access to new products, like the beta of our new Mac desktop receiver, that are designed specifically for photo enthusiasts. The goal of Labs is to gain insights that result in products that delight our customers." With Labs, Eye-Fi customers can test new products and capabilities that Eye-Fi is working on before they are made available to the general public. Eye-Fi's product development teams monitor and engage directly with Lab participants to further refine products based on customers' needs and desires. Users can register for the Labs program by visiting www.eyefi.com/insider/labs.

Eye-Fi's new desktop receiver for Mac gives Mobi users more choice in where their high-quality photos can be transferred, stored and shared. Without the hassle of transfer delay or wires, Mobi users will now have the option to transfer to mobile for on-the-go sharing or to the desktop for greater archiving and editing ability.

Available for free during the beta period, the Eye-Fi desktop receiver for Mac will offer the same, reliable features that Mobi customers already use and love, including: Simple setup: Once installed, simply enter the Mobi card's unique 10-digit activation code, and your computer is paired. Use the same activation code to pair with multiple desktops and mobile devices as needed. Transfer anywhere: Built-in WiFi means no more WiFi network, hotspot or home Internet connection needed for pairing or transfer; Mobi transfers photos from a camera to the intended device anywhere, whenever new content is detected. Works with cameras users already know (and love): Mobi works in thousands of cameras, including hundreds of Eye-Fi connected cameras that have integrated Eye-Fi technology for improved usability. Backs up automatically: Photos and videos transfer as they're taken, so if anything happens to the camera, content is already safe on your mobile or desktop.

Mobi users can download the beta desktop receiver for either Mac or Windows directly from the Eye-Fi Labs website: www.eyefi.com/insider/labs About Eye-FiEye-Fi is dedicated to building products and services that help consumers manage, nurture and share their digital memories.
