Avail-TVN Publishes Advanced Advertising Industry Report and Strategy Whitepaper

NEW YORK, Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- According to a whitepaper released by Avail-TVN today, video on demand C3 advertising activity among the company's content and service provider customers increased 400 percent in 2012. The whitepaper, which includes statistics on C3, D4 and Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI) uptake, was made available today at the Multichannel News Advanced Advertising Summit. It is also available for download on the company's website.

The whitepaper, titled "A Suggested Phasing into Advanced Advertising," highlights the opportunities for monetizing free on demand (FOD) television offerings through C3, D4 and DAI strategies. According to projections by SNL Kagan, in 2012, over nine billion FOD streams went unmonetized, highlighting a major potential revenue opportunity. The document lays out the progression from C3 to D4 and DAI and discusses the standards, technical issues and workflows that characterize a successful advanced advertising strategy, based on the company's experience working with a range of networks to monetize VOD assets.

Avail-TVN has been at the forefront of the advanced advertising movement, and works with more than 50 content and 115 service providers to monetize VOD assets through C3. In 2012, the company introduced its Advanced Advertising Insertion Marking service and supports SCTE 130 modules for advanced advertising such as POIS (placement opportunity information service) and CIS (content information service). The company regularly turns live TV content into C3-ready VOD content in six hours.

"At Avail-TVN, we're already providing C3 turnaround services for more than 50 networks," said Joni Kinsley, vice president of product management at Avail-TVN. "C3, D4 and DAI mean that content and service providers can finally monetize free on demand assets - but the process is far more complex than many realize. An ecosystem of technology and service partners, including Avail-TVN, has emerged that can help to simplify the complex process of liaising between content and multichannel video providers and navigating the technology, standards, and integration requirements. We've developed a new whitepaper designed to help players in the digital video ecosystem consider the path to advanced advertising and navigate different strategies."
