AOI Chosen for the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase for 2nd Consecutive Year

Feb 08, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Accent on Integration (AOI), a provider of integration software and medical device connectivity solutions, announced that it was selected for the second consecutive year to participate in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.

According to a release, touted as a forum highlighting the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise's (IHE) common framework, the HIMSS13 Interoperability Showcase brings solution providers and decision-makers together in a "seeing is believing" interactive environment where attendees become the patient in a clinical use-case scenario and watch their health data move from system to system.

Throughout the event, AOI will integrate vital signs monitors, smart infusion pumps and telemetry beds with a hospital information system (HIS) in a live demo using its Accelero Connect healthcare integration platform. Accelero Connect is an FDA-registered Medical Device Data System (MDDS) that seamlessly integrates patient care devices with hospital EMRs and other clinical systems.

"Because integration solutions like Accelero Connect automate how medical device data is captured and recorded, hospitals can improve patient care and safety by ensuring that clinicians have access to pertinent patient data at all times," said Marc C. Andiel, co-founder and CEO of AOI. "We are excited for the opportunity to participate in the Interoperability Showcase again this year and demonstrate how healthcare organizations can leverage technologies to their fullest potential by integrating disparate systems and devices." Accelero Connect is vendor-, manufacturer- and modality-neutral and has helped several healthcare organizations eliminate data silos, streamline clinician workflow and reduce the risk of possible documentation errors. Additionally, Accelero Connect includes a user interface that enables clinicians to view data from multiple patient monitoring devices and quickly filter and select which data should be documented in the legal patient record.

"Integration and data-sharing technologies can have a great impact on patient care and clinician workflow, as well as play a significant role in helping hospitals and healthcare organizations reach their healthcare and meaningful use goals. However, many hospitals are forced to delay integration projects because they don't have the time, resources or integration expertise needed," said Andiel. "AOI understands these and other common roadblocks, and we are committed to helping hospitals and healthcare systems of all sizes improve patient care by interconnecting disparate technologies and ensuring the high availability of patient-specific information." AOI will demonstrate Accelero Connect in the demo area for Use Case No. 8 at the HIMSS13 Interoperability Showcase, March 4-6, in New Orleans.
