LG Uplus deploys Alcatel-Lucent's IP/MPLS technologyDec 12, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Alcatel-Lucent SA has announced that it has transformed the network of LG Uplus Corp., enabling the service provider to increase broadband speeds and capacity in response to exploding demand for internet access, IPTV services, voice-over-IP and other high-bandwidth services in their homes. LG Uplus has deployed Alcatel-Lucent's Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) technology in some of the country's major cities. By deploying Alcatel-Lucent's IP service routers, LG Uplus will be able to offer its customers faster, more reliable Internet access, video and voice services while growing revenues with the introduction of new services. This is the first deployment of Alcatel-Lucent's service routers in Korea using its powerful FP3 - a 400G processor - and lays the foundation for future speeds of up to 400 gigabit-per-second and even greater capacity. Alcatel-Lucent has provided LG Uplus with its 7750 Service Router (SR) portfolio to deliver more bandwidth and services to more subscribers, more efficiently. At the same time, LG Uplus is able to streamline its current network operations to deliver substantial savings in both capital and operational expenses. The solution deployed is part of the Alcatel-Lucent High Leverage Network (HLN).
