MeetMe Offers Spanish and Portuguese Options

Aug 17, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- MeetMe, Inc., a public market company for social discovery, has announced the launch of Spanish and Portuguese language options on web and Android, with iPhone expected in the coming weeks.

The launch of these initial two languages marks a step toward internationalization of the platform, the Company reported.

"This step triples the company's addressable market and positions the company for the transition of Quepasa.com users to the platform beginning in September," said Geoff Cook, COO and President, Consumer Internet for MeetMe. "By the end of the year, MeetMe will be available in a half-dozen languages as the company executes on its mission to build the global brand for meeting new people." MeetMe said it partnered with Smartling, a Global Delivery Network, on the internationalization effort. "With over 1 million lines of MeetMe code in need of internationalization, the project was a major one," noted Cook. "Now with the first two languages completed, each incremental language can be added much more quickly with minimal developer involvement." ((Comments on this story may be sent to [email protected]))
