2012 Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide Recognizes SmartBear's AlertSite as No.2

May 29, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- SmartBear AlertSite said that it has strengthened its position as the number two provider of Web performance monitoring according to the 2012 Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.

Up 7 percent from 2011, more Top 500 online retailers chose AlertSite than the competition to ensure that their Web pages load quickly and perform flawlessly for their customers, the Company noted in a release.

For e-commerce businesses, SmartBear said that speedy website performance and reliable uptime are critical for revenue growth. Several businesses appearing in the Internet Retailer Top 500 credit their strategic use of SmartBear's website performance monitoring for their success.

Seventy-six retailers from this year's Top 500 Guide identified SmartBear AlertSite as their solution for Web performance monitoring. In addition to Sierra Trading Post and Brownells, they include Dell, Inc. (No. 5), Newegg, Inc. (No. 13), and Sony Electronics, Inc. (No. 16).

Christopher Lange, Web operations manager for Sierra Trading Post, said, "SmartBear AlertSite is a key tool for Sierra Trading Post in monitoring and evaluating our speed and uptime placement against our competitors in the Top 500 Guide. As an online retailer, it is critical that customers have a positive experience shopping our site every time - whether it's their first visit or fiftieth. SmartBear has given us the tools we need to monitor our website and swiftly troubleshoot any problems, bulletproofing both our brand and online sales." SmartBear Web performance monitoring tools provide retailers and other online businesses insight into the availability and response times of their websites and applications from more than 80 locations across the globe. AlertSite Web performance monitoring is part of the SmartBear Quality Anywhere Platform, which also includes development, QA, and application lifecycle management (ALM) tools to help organizations drive quality throughout the entire quality lifecycle, on any platform - the desktop, mobile and in the cloud.

Clayton Whipple, director of e-commerce for Brownells, Inc., said, "Our success as an online retailer is directly tied to giving customers a positive and consistent shopping experience each time they visit us. It's imperative that our website is online and fully responsive to every visitor at all times. That's why we rely on SmartBear AlertSite for continuous website monitoring and troubleshooting. Just like with a brick-and-mortar retailer, we can't serve our customers if the lights are out and no one is home when they want to buy something. We trust SmartBear to make sure our online doors are always open. In fact, using SmartBear AlertSite, we've been able to improve the speed of our site by almost 40 percent." SmartBear will be exhibiting as a Gold Sponsor at this year's 2012 Internet Retailer Conference and Exhibition, June 5 - 8, at McCormick Place West in Chicago. In addition to demonstrating AlertSite, as well as API Complete, its integrated API testing and monitoring solution, SmartBear said that it will provide complimentary website performance consultations.
