Vidyo Demos Multipoint Video Conferencing on Amazon's Kindle Fire and Extends VidyoMobile Support to Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich' Smart Phone

LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)--

Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, will demonstrate its award-winning multipoint video conferencing software on Amazon's new Kindle Fire, tonight at CES ShowStoppers in Las Vegas. The company will also showcase the latest platform support for its VidyoMobile™ HD video conferencing software client: Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich' running on the Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy Nexus smart phone. The new Android mobile platform will be part of a live, multi-point, global video conference connecting an extensive variety of endpoints on iOS and Android mobile devices including Kindle Fire, plus desktops, laptops and room systems.

Vidyo's (News - Alert) CES ShowStoppers demos spotlight the flexibility and interoperability of its groundbreaking high definition, software-based video conferencing solution. They will feature the VidyoMobile client running on a variety of the most popular iOS and Android tablets and smart phones, including the Kindle Fire, iPad2, iPhone (News - Alert) 4S, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy S II, in addition to the debut of Ice Cream Sandwich on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smart phone. All of these devices will be connected live with one another and VidyoRoom and VidyoDesktop systems located across the world, in a multipoint, HD video conference, over wireless and public Internet networks.

"Easy-to-use, universal business-to-business communication is the holy grail of enterprise video conferencing," said Ofer Shapiro (News - Alert), CEO and co-founder of Vidyo. "Traditionally, the challenge has been interoperability among companies who use different video conferencing vendors and endpoint devices. Vidyo's software based approach offers a solution to this problem by providing high definition video conferencing over a multitude of off the shelf devices and interoperability with legacy systems. No other vendor can demonstrate what we are showing today."

The CES 2012 ShowStoppers event will take place from 6 pm to 10 pm on January 10 in the Lafite Ballroom of the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.

VidyoMobile supporting Android versions 2.2 through 4.0 is available for Vidyo users with accounts on either an enterprise VidyoConferencing system or through an authorized Vidyo service provider, in the Android Market Place as a free app.

The Vidyo Difference

The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based, highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. The patented VidyoRouter™ architecture introduces Adaptive Video Layering™ technology, which dynamically optimizes the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo's IP. Adaptive Video Layering technology eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency and low-latency rate matching, thus enabling natural, affordable, high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE, 3G and 4G networks. The Vidyo platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since 2005.
