Hitachi subsidiary buys BlueArc to enhance cloud computing business
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Sept. 8 -- (Kyodo) _ Hitachi Ltd. said Thursday its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary Hitachi Data Systems Corp. has acquired network attached storage vendor BlueArc Corp.
With the deal estimated at nearly 50 billion yen, Hitachi aims to strengthen its cloud computing services in the United States and other countries.
The move comes amid growing demand for data storage systems used in cloud computing, which allows shared access to software and data via the Internet.
Through BlueArc, known for providing data storage in the medical and entertainment fields, Hitachi is seeking to widen its customer base.
