Singer/songwriter B. CORSICANA -- Longtime Corsicana businessman and international recording star B. Jeff Stone died Friday at a Tyler hospital. He was 75. Stone, a recent inductee into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Nashville, has a string of hits stretching back several decades, and enjoyed vast success in Europe with his traditional approach to country music. Stateside, Stone's influence on the genre of country music was legendary as well. A prolific writer and performer, Stone's distinctive voice and traditional style made him a natural behind the microphone, and putting great music to paper for other artists. Some of Stone's chart hits through the years include "Everybody Loves Me," "Hey Little News Boy," "Hello Mr. Heartache," "When it's Christmas Time in Texas," and "Mary Ann Regrets." Stone was also a former columnist for the Corsicana Daily Sun, having penned a regular feature on country music, always with "a pot of hot coffee" to share with his stories. In addition to the Rockabilly Hall of Fame honor, Stone is a member of the Texas-Lone Star State Country Music Hall of Fame, the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame, The Florida Greater Southern Country Music Hall of Fame, and the European ICMAG Country Music Hall of Fame. He also won numerous awards throughout the United States and Europe for his career. Stone and wife Patricia married in 1982 and moved to Corsicana in 1985, operating a real estate investment business since then. Visitation for B. Jeff Stone will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug., 29, 2011, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Neal officiating.
