BT introduces Managed Authentication Service for UK businesses operating online

Jul 07, 2011 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- UK-based communications group BT (LSE:BT.A) has introduced a new authentication service to help UK businesses combat online fraud and protect user identities, the company announced today.

The BT Managed Authentication service is targeted at businesses that provide high value or high risk online services. It provides multi-factor authentication, adding an extra one-time password to the customer's traditional username and password.

This one-time password can only be generated by a unique algorithm running on a device or piece of software issued to each individual customer.

According to BT its new service is scalable, easy to use, can be rapidly deployed and can be updated to support future plans.

No pricing details were disclosed.
