Nokia introduces Meego-based smartphone N9Jun 21, 2011 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- 21 June 2011 - Nokia Oyj (HEL: NOK1V) presented today several new mobile phones, including Meego-based smartphone N9, at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore, surprising the market, which had expected an announcement of its first Windows Phone 7-based device. In April, Nokia said it would migrate to the Windows Phone platform of US giant Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) for its smartphones and would eventually cease the development of the Symbian and Meego software. N9, whose selling price will be unveiled later, will be launched in stores later this year. In addition, the Finnish mobile-phone maker presented three Series 40-based models in the lower-price segment -- C2-02, C2-03 and C2-06. C2-03 is Nokia's third model which allows users to use at least two different SIM cards with the same phone. However, C2-03 has a new function -- users can switch between SIM cards without having to turn off the phone or remove the battery. Comments on this story may be sent to [email protected] |
