Mindspeed to Showcase LTE Small Cell Base Station Advances at International CTIA Wireless 2011 Conference

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that the company will be demonstrating next-generation long-term evolution (LTE) base station advances based on the company's Transcede™ system-on-chip (SOC) solution at the International CTIA (News - Alert) Wireless 2011 exhibition from March 22 through March 24, 2011, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Mindspeed®'s Transcede processor is the first fully-integrated commercially-available single SoC eNodeB solution offering 3GPP Release 8-compliant LTE Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 processing with picocell performance. It enables OEMs to leverage the same software architecture and programming model across the entire family of Transcede processors, and to scale designs from femtocells and picocells to microcells and macrocells. Transcede supports multiple radio access network (RAN) technologies in a single device and provides the industry's highest level of integration.

Mindspeed is working closely with key enabling technology vendors to facilitate the delivery of a complete solution to its customers. In collaboration with Interphase Corporation, Continuous Computing and Ixia (News - Alert), Mindspeed will host LTE picocell demonstrations for service providers, customers and analysts in booth #4874. Mindspeed will spotlight its Transcede 4000 processor as well as an LTE picocell transmitting high-definition (HD) video.

In addition, Continuous Computing (booth #4059) will host a demonstration of its Trillium LTE eNodeB software on an Interphase picocell solution featuring the Transcede 4000 baseband processor.

AirWalk Communications (booth #2818) will display a Transcede-powered LTE small cell, which includes wideband multi-standard transceiver technology from Lme Microsystems.

"These exciting implementations of Transcede technology each represent important steps in the industry's migration to a heterogeneous and scalable infrastructure of femtocells, picocells, microcells and macrocells that can more efficiently process today's explosion in video-centric mobile data," said Alan Taylor, director of marketing for the communications convergence processing business unit at Mindspeed. "Mindspeed's Transcede SoC enables a new generation of compact yet scalable base station designs to improve network coverage, service and performance by putting more processing power closer to the subscriber."

The Transcede 4000 system-on-chip, which features 26 programmable processors in a single device, including two ARM® Cortex A9® multi-core symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) reduced instruction set computer (RISC) processors, 10 CEVA (News - Alert)® digital signal processors (DSPs) and 10 DSP accelerators, was named "Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough" at the 2010 Mobile Excellence Awards (MEA).

About Mindspeed Technologies (News - Alert)

Mindspeed designs, develops and sells semiconductor solutions for communications applications in the wireline and wireless network infrastructure, which includes enterprise networks, broadband access networks (fixed and mobile), and metropolitan and wide area networks. We have organized our solutions for these interrelated and rapidly converging networks into three families. Our communications convergence processing (CCP) products include ultra-low-power, multi-core digital signal processor (DSP) system-on-chip (SoC) products for the fixed and mobile (3G/4G/LTE) carrier infrastructure and residential and enterprise service platforms. Our high-performance analog (HPA) products solve difficult switching, timing and synchronization challenges in next-generation optical networking, enterprise storage and broadcast video transmission applications. Our wide area networking (WAN) communications portfolio helps optimize today's circuit-switched networks. Mindspeed's products are sold to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for use in a variety of network infrastructure equipment which serves these markets.
