November 16: Midday Fix - The Toy Insider
Nov 16, 2010 (WGN-TV - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Laurie Schact Laurie's Tips: Don't wait, if you see an item that you know is at the top of your child's wish list...buy it now. If not, you may not see it again till after the holidays.
Don't get caught up in what everyone says is the "must have" toy of the season. Know your child and their passions and give a toy that you know is important to them for the right reasons.
Toys should be interactive...and I don't mean technology. Your child should be interacting with the toys...not simply watching them. A watch me toy is the first one to land at the bottom of the toy box.
Find value in the toys...and don't break the bank. This year's toys are fabulous and our team has put together a list where most items are under $50. Collectibles can begin with habitats or playsets at between $19.99 and about $34.00, and the add ons run between $5.99 and $9.99, giving children the ability to save their allowance and help add to their collection.
Remember, there's something wonderful for everyone! The toys shown today included: Cook and Play Potsy (LeapFrog) Royal Princess Castle Deluxe Playset (Velcro Kids) My Take Along Puppet Theater (Playmobil) Squinkies (Blip Toys) Disney Princess & Me Dolls (Jakks Pacific) Zibits Power Lab (Senario) Rock Crawler (Maisto) For the complete list: www.thetoyinsider.com To see more of WGN-TV, go to http://www.wgntv.com/.
