HP Continues Battle With Dell Over 3Par, Raises Bid to $27 per Share (HPQ,DELL,PAR)

Aug 26, 2010 (SmarTrend News Watch via COMTEX) -- In the latest move among computer heavyweights, Hewlett Packard (NYSE:HPQ) has just raised its bid for 3Par (NYSE:PAR) to $27 per share in cash. That is up from HP's original offer of $24 and above Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) recently revised bid of $24.30, which was accepted by 3Par's board of directors this morning.

Clearly, 3Par's board will have some additional work to do this evening and consider the extra $2.70 in cash per share. 3Par shares are trading at $27.52, above HP's offer in a sign that some investors do not believe this ping-pong match is over.

SmarTrend alerted subscribers to take profits in Hewlett-Packard on August 09, 2010 at $43.14, since then the stock fell 11.4%. We are now watching for any positive developments that could result in a new uptrend signal.
