MRV To Display Optical Transport and Infrastructure Management Solutions at Seven Military Technology Expos in Germany

CHATSWORTH, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

MRV (News - Alert) COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced it will participate in seven military technology expos organized by National Conference Services, Inc. (NCSI) throughout Germany between July 20 and July 30. MRV Communications, Inc. is a leading provider of optical communication and IT infrastructure management solutions to service providers and enterprises around the world.

Through this two-week tour, MRV will showcase its Fiber Driver™ and LambdaDriver™ optical transport systems, which deliver the flexible optical networking with the performance and scalability needed to build high-speed secure backbone networks to meet the demands of today's military organizations. The company will also showcase its LX Series out-of-band network management solution for secure remote service port access and remote power control of devices in a military organization's networks and infrastructures.

The NCSI Summer 2010 Germany Series technology expos will bring together more than 50 exhibitors to demonstrate the latest in emerging technologies at locations throughout Germany. MRV will exhibit at the seven locations including the Ramstein Air Base, Spangdahlem Air Base, Wiesbaden Army Airfield, USAG Grafenwoehr/Vilseck, USAG Schweinfurt, Patch Barracks/Stuttgart and Campbell Barracks/Heidelberg. For more information on any of the expos, visit www.ncsi.com/.

MRV's optical network solutions are designed to maximize the scale of the network and provide a true "any-protocol-over-fiber" operating environment. The systems include copper and fiber edge demarcation platforms and wave division optical transport solutions. Whether transitioning from asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), synchronous optical networking (SONET), supporting 10Gig at the edge, migrating to voice over IP (VoIP), or preparing for G/E-PON, MRV has products that are Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2008 certified to help migrate to everything over fiber.

MRV's out-of-band solutions provide secure IP intelligence for the command, control, and defense of operational support infrastructure, by providing real-time awareness and state change event notification. They have also been used in military sensor management applications for both wet and dry contact alarms and sensors. The company's solutions unify operational awareness and maximize control across the IT infrastructure, power systems, HVAC, alarm, security, and environmental systems. MRV's LX Series solution is proven in tactical and enterprise operating environments and is Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 certified and DISA Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) testing and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) compliant.

"MRV provides a wide range of technologies for today's military organizations, including the Fiber Driver, LambdaDriver and LX Series, which provide the flexibility to easily scale networks as well as respond to network issues in a timely manner," said Dilip Singh, chief executive officer of MRV. "We've been delivering solutions to the US government for more than 20 years now and continue our drive to become the first equipment provider they consider in handling their network build outs. We are thrilled at the opportunity to participate in these expos and showcase our innovative solutions for these mission critical networks."

About Fiber Driver

MRV's Fiber Driver optical multi-service product line provides a full range services demarcation, media conversion, signal repeating and fiber-optimization solutions, including coarse and dense WDM capabilities. Both managed and unmanaged solutions are available, including rack-mount, modular systems and desktop systems. The Fiber Driver line includes several families of products with the flexibility of hundreds of combinations and system options for any type of optical or copper technology, covering virtually every protocol in use in networking today. With a power consumption of 3W - 5W per 10Gbps interface, the Fiber Driver optical multiservice platform consumes 20% - 30% less power than competing optical transport systems. In testing using the TEEER power efficiency standard, the Fiber Driver achieved a rating up to 9.84 out of 10, making it one of the highest efficiency optical networking systems on the market.

About LambdaDriver

MRV's LambdaDriver is its premiere optical transport system for building high-performance enterprise access, metropolitan carrier and long haul transport networks. The LambdaDriver is a multi-functional, compact, modular WDM system that supports both dense and coarse wavelength division multiplexing and coarse wavelength division multiplexing technology. LambdaDriver also serves as a packet optical transport system by integrating Carrier Ethernet connection-oriented services and reconfigurable OADM for automated optical mesh topologies with wavelength-level switching. The LambdaDriver series can support data rates from 8 Mbps up to 40 Gbps with seamless future upgrades to 100 Gbps.

About the LX Series

The LX Series of out-of-band networking products provides the redundancy and security features to deploy a complete, end-to-end solution in which network and system administrators can proactively respond to all remote management, configuration and data acquisition needs from any location. In addition to remotely accessible console servers, the series also includes intelligent power management and sensor networking management capabilities
