ZTE Corporation: IDC Vendor Spotlight Report: ZTE Leads Global Next-Generation HLR Solution Providers; Analyst Predicts Service Providers to Put Investment Priority on NG HLR(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RDATE:02032009 Shenzhen, China - In its latest Vendor Spotlight Report entitled 'Leveraging Next-Generation HLR Solutions', international research firm IDC highlighted the major contribution of ZTE Corporation ("ZTE"), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, in providing Next-Generation Home Location Register (NG HLR) solution to help Service Providers (SPs) address the challenge of managing subscriber data management. ZTE was named by IDC as one the top vendors that are cost-effectively assisting SPs in migrating from traditional HLR to NG HLR. Published last month, the IDC report examines prevailing IT-network convergence trends in subscriber data management. It also looks at the significant role of NG HLR vendors, in helping SPs address the concept of subscriber data management with the emphasis on business key performance indicators (KPIs), and evolving mobile network and service technologies. The study also briefly explains how NG HLR's distributed architecture is providing a better strategic option over the traditional HLR system in managing today's customer-centric and service-led telecom environment. HLR is a high performance database system that plays a significant role in a Service Provider's business competitiveness. It holds critical customer data and attributes that a mobile operator can use to create market differentiation, and has a variety of functions designed to support mobile voice services. Over the years, traditional HLRs data structures and infrastructure platforms have started to age, while software and hardware technologies associated with the system can no longer keep up with new emerging technologies. Legacy HLR systems are also limiting the capability of SPs to fully capture revenue opportunities, improve customer satisfaction and contain overhead. NG HLR is an evolution of the traditional HLR products and technologies and includes distinctive characteristics such as robust software architecture and hardware platform options. The report points out that the migration to NG HLRs is just the 'tip of the iceberg' as SPs are only starting to explore the improved features and benefits of the system. With SPs now considering migrating their network infrastructure to support 3G, LTE and WiMAX technologies, it is important to have a pragmatic approach to enhance operational infrastructure. However, with the growth of mobile data traffic they cannot afford to wait and add subscriber capacity until the planned generational upgrade in the network is complete. IDC predicts NG HLR to be one of the IT spending priorities of SPs in the near future. The research firm believes that ZTE can address the challenges in today's telecom environment, and has a huge opportunity of becoming successful in the NG HLR field. ZTE, according to the report, is among the few vendors that have developed reliable NG HLR solutions that can meet emerging requirements of today's SPs.
